Vardøen har klart å skrive en bok som nærmest blir en hyllest til pizzaen, og som lar leseren ta del i hans lidenskapelige forhold til retten. Forfatteren forteller oss blant annet litt om hva som er korrekt å drikke til pizzaen i Napoli; ØL. Hvis en ikke drikker alkohol er det lov med mineralvann. Til nøds cola, hehe. Her går Vardøen et skritt i retning mot å fornorske pizzaen og sier at ALT er godtatt her til lands. “Det finnes ingen feil, bare ren nytelse!” Godt er det, da undertegnede aldri har hatt øl i kjøleskapet. Cola derimot… hehe. Innimellom alle oppskriftene kommer underholdende anekdoter og trivia som gjør boken artig å lese gjennom. Dersom noen skulle ønske å bygge en pizzaovn i hagen finner en punkt for punkt hvordan det kan gjøres bakerst i boka. Det er bare å sette i gang!

En bokanmeldelse av en kokebok kan ikke bli fullkommen uten at jeg prøver meg som kokk, eller pizzabaker i dette tilfellet. Det viste seg raskt at pizzabunnen ikke var av den “norske” typen som er ferdig på 1–2-3. Selve det å sette deigen var ikke noe pes for en hardbarka baker som meg, men etter å ha satt deigen leste jeg videre i oppskriften: “La deigballene stå på på brettet i 2–3 timer i romtemperatur.” Allerede der såg jeg at det ikke kom til å bli pizza på oss den dagen…

Jeg fulgte tipset i boka om å oppbevare deigen i kjøleskapet over natta. Dog var det én ting som ikke var nevnt i boka; nemlig at det kunne være lurt å ha plastikk over/rundt deigen. Da jeg hentet den ut neste dag hadde den tørket litt og fått en skorpe. Kan det være noe av grunnen til at den ferdige pizzaen ikke ble like luftig og boblete som i boka? Til tross for skorpen var deigen fantastisk å jobbe med! Jeg har aldri opplevd bedre pizzadeig! Det var så lett å få den utover, så her skal pizzamester Jan ha ros!

En litt tørr deig var ikke nok til å stoppe meg! Jeg hadde valgt meg ut en oppskrift som såg ganske enkel ut: “Pane Angelo” fra s. 73 i boka. Jeg hadde kjøpt inn godt smør, bladpersille og fersk mozzarella og var klar til å erobre pizzauniverset.

Slik såg det ut før jeg puttet pizzaen i ovnen:

Jeg hadde satt ovnen på maks varme, men vet ikke om det ble helt godt nok. Det skulle bare ta noen få minutter å steike pizzaen, men jeg hadde den i flere minutter uten at den fikk noe som helst farge… Pizzaen skulle være ferdig når den er “brunet godt, osten har smeltet og deigen har puffet seg opp og er gjennomstekt.” Vet ikke hva som gikk galt, men slik såg det ut da min var “ferdig”:

Ser absolutt ikke like bra ut som den i boka

Jeg ble litt skuffet, men Jan sa i boka at det kunne være greit å lage litt ekstra deig da det var helt normalt at ikke alle pizzaene ble perfekt ved første forsøk for nybegynnere. En må finne ut av hvordan ovnen sin fungerer. Dersom det ikke ble varmt nok kunne en investere i en pizzastein. Får se. Kanskje en annen gang. For å få resultatet til å bli litt likere bildet i boka måtte jeg jukse litegranne (satt faktisk ved siden av Ingrid Espelid på toget fra Oslo til Hamar for noen år siden. Det ble en fin tid med snakk om helse og ernæring). Jeg stekte litt kylling og la det på pizzaen. Da ble det slik:

Jeg anbefaler boka til alle som har lyst til å lære mer om pizzabaking, trenger noen gode oppskrifter fra en pizzamester, liker bøker som er lettlest og som også setter pris på estetikk. Pizza Paradiso er en fantastisk flott bok!

When I read it I felt that this is really a word for me now and I pray that it will “get” you the same way. Prepare yourself. This is good times!

“God spoke to me that this year on the Day of Pentecost there will be a new release of power and creativity from Heaven.

Quite often, people hear a prophecy like this and they expect the sky to split open and the audible voice of God to reveal their destiny to them. I wish it would be like that, but usually when God releases something new, there is a shift that happens and we begin to see it unfold over a few weeks and months. Of course, those who are not watching for new things that God is bringing can miss it (Matthew 25).

The actual Day of Pentecost is May 23. I am expecting God to do something new in my life and ministry and you can expect the same. There are new opportunities coming to many people in the month of June.

We are being positioned for an increase of God’s power that will cause our evangelistic efforts to become more effective throughout the rest of 2010.

Day of Pentecost: New Release from Heaven

The night before Jesus was arrested, He celebrated a Passover meal with His disciples in the legendary “Last Supper.” Fifty days later, God initiated a major turning point in the story of His people with the birth of the Christian Church that occurred on the Jewish festival of Pentecost.

God spoke to me that this year will be a significant time for the Church on the Day of Pentecost and the weeks to follow. It may not have the impact that the original day of Pentecost did in Acts 2, but there is definitely a significant change coming and a release of new power and creative anointing from Heaven. He also revealed deeper insight into the power of “Passover” and “Pentecost” that is still available to us today.

The power of a “Spiritual Passover”
Passover is a Jewish festival that reminds us of God’s greatness when He gave instructions to the Israelites in Egypt that would cause the spirit of death to “pass over” their houses (Exodus 11–12).

The spiritual aspect of “Passover” is still available to us today. When judgment or tragedy comes in any form– whether economic, spiritual, environmental, or whatever– God will most often let His people know how to avoid it or at least how to suffer minimal damage. In some cases God will even show His people how to profit during a downturn (Genesis 41). The key is to listen to God’s voice as He speaks to us and follow the instructions that He gives.

I prophesied over a businessman from South Africa that some type of disaster would come to his area but it would result in God blessing his business four-times. He listened to God and bought a stockpile of raw material. When the economic disaster hit and prices went up, he was able to sell his products and make a million dollars in eight months (exactly four times the amount he invested).

My dream of a bad storm
I had a dream earlier this year that a fierce storm (maybe the worst ever) was coming. It appeared that we were going to suffer great losses and maybe even die. Everyone was panicking and running to take cover. Faith rose up in me and I felt an anointing from God to stand and watch this storm. I saw a consuming fire in the storm and, just as it approached my house, it passed over and immediately it was a bright sunny day with a rainbow in the sky. I was amazed that there was no damage at all to my property or my loved ones.

I awoke from the dream realizing that we need to stand in the midst of the storms coming against us personally and as a nation. God will give us instructions on what to do and when to do it. The key is to remain at peace and do not be afraid.

The power of Pentecost
As you may know, the Day of Pentecost marked the release of the Holy Spirit upon believers. It is interesting that the account in Acts 2:17–18 mentions that prophecy, dreams, and visions will increase and be available to everyone.

Acts 2:17–18 NIV
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

That outpouring resulted in over 3,000 people coming into God’s Kingdom that day (Acts 2:40).

Prophetic word
This year there will be a release of “Pentecost Power” that will result in the most effective evangelism we have seen in a long time. In March we came out of a 50-month wilderness that lasted from January 1, 2006–March 20, 2010 (the first day of Spring). Ten days later, Passover was observed on March 30th. Fifty days after Passover, May 23, 2010, will be Pentecost.

This year God will release a new, fresh anointing on the day of Pentecost. This will include new visitations from God in various forms, the increase of prophecy, dreams, and visions, and new assignments from God.
There are several new doors opening in June that have not been there before. These new opportunities will take the message of Jesus into some places that have not been open to God previously. This is building up to “The Summer of Fun for 2010.”

Min umiddelbare tanke etter å ha lest om Trijicon sin praksis var at det er kjekt med favør fra Gud

Most of the people going to Redding with us are also going to visit IHOP in Kansas City. We are just going to stay in Redding for the whole trip and get as much as we can while we’re there.

Sanna and I are staying with Tom & Heidi Ruotolo. It’ll be great! Looking forward to it. Please pray for the trip that everything will be smooth and that we will have the time of our lives

As usual it´s been a while since last update. Many of you probably don´t know that Sanna and I have moved back to Norway. We had thought that we would stay in Moravian Falls, NC, till December this year. That´s what we believed when we moved to the US, but God wanted it otherwise. In the end of June we were asked to be part of a church plant in Oslo, the capital city of Norway. The church will be a Catch the Fire church and is under Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (TACF). It´s starting September 20th and Sanna and I will be the youth leaders there.

It took some time before we reached the decision to go for it. We prayed a lot about it and sought counsel from friends. From Proverbs 11:14 we learned that “where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory.” This is true and we´ve experienced it. All the wisdom, guidance, input and prayers we got from our friends on the mountain is priceless! They advised us on how to go forth, how to conduct ourselves, the right protocol etc. And they all asked the Lord for direction for us. One thing that was very special for us was when David and Adam (two superb friends) came from High Point and Winston Salem to get together with us and pray with us. That was precious. We thank God for such true friends. When we left them and flew home to Norway we knew that we were on the right way and that God really had called us home again. But it wasn´t only easy to go home…

Before we moved to the USA we sold many of our belongings and our car, and we moved out of the house we rented from the military. So now we´re in a situation where we can almost start from scratch, hehe. We have an advantage over the world and that is that God has promised to take care of us, and He will! He has always been faithful to us before and God never changes. So it´s all good. I have an interview for a job on Tuesday, so please pray for me that I get the right job there. We´re also looking for a house, but before I have a job we will not get a loan and cannot buy anything. But at least we´ll know what´s on the market by the time we are able to purchase. And we won´t stop anyone from giving us a house and a car either, hehe.

God has taken good care of us! If it wasn´t for Him we wouldn´t even have been here now. We didn´t have money for the plane tickets back home but He provided for us through friends. Thank you, Jesus! Our friends back in Moravian Falls also helped us a lot while we were there and before we left they threw us a farewell party. We had an awesome time that evening! I think it was about 30 people there that came to wish us the best for the next chapter in our lives. We are so blessed!

Now we´re staying with Jostein and Reidun, one of the pastor couples, and it´s great to be here. They make us feel at home and they help us look for a house. We want to buy a place that has potential so that Sanna can fix it up so we can sell it with profit. Good plan, let us see what we can find.

Blue Ridge Parkway

They came over here Thursday a week ago, and we spent a couple of days here in the area. On Friday we went to Winston-Salem to do some shopping. My mother wanted to go to a store to by fabric for quilting, and my father and I wanted to get a new iPhone for me because the old one was falling apart. I had dropped it outside and the glass was shattered and pieces had fallen off… On Saturday we drove to Boone and to Blue Ridge Parkway. It was beautiful!! We hiked for a couple of hours too. Saw a waterfall and ate ice cream and drank soda. Having a blessed good time!

On Sunday we went to Morningstar Church in Wilkesboro, then headed towards Nashville, TN. My father loves country music, and I grew up listening to Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers among others. I really enjoy that kind of music too. So Nashville was were we wanted to go. It was fun. The live music in the music pubs was high quality. We loved it! Sanna and I even got to dance a couple of dances at “The Stage” which was really cool

Wednesday this week we returned to Moravian Falls and rested. Thursday was a good day for us too. Sanna and I took them around on the mountain meeting our friends, and we had picnic lunch at one of the prayer mountains. The peace is marvelous here, my parents commented on it several times.

What I want to say is that I really truly enjoyed being together with Sanna and my parents! I look forward to seeing them again next time, in Norway. They are wonderful and I love them very very much.
